This course is only available to current 9th-11th grade students that have never taken this PE summer online physical education course. Students that have previously taken this PE summer online physical education course should take the Dance Life Fitness or Fitness and Wellness summer courses to receive a PE credit.

Course Description: PE Core is a flexible, self-paced online Physical Education course designed for students during the summer months. This asynchronous program allows participants to engage with the material at their own convenience, delivered entirely online through Schoology. The course emphasizes kinesthetic learning, blending educational research with hands-on activities to promote lifelong health and movement skills. PE Core is divided into eight comprehensive unites, each focusing on a different aspect of physical movement typically experienced during an in-person PE class. Students will analyze and participate in physical foundations such as strength, flexibility, coordination, cardiovascular health, team dynamics, mind-body connection, and advanced integration.

Each unit is split into a research portion, where students explore topics muscle movement and exercise benefits through videos, articles, and podcasts. This is followed by an activity portion, requiring the implementation of movements through the students personal choice of physical activity. Activities are scalable for different ages and fitness levels, suitable for students grades 9-12. The course concludes with a capstone project: creating an intricate PE class lesson plan that synthesizes all learned concepts, including warm-ups, exercises, and adaptations.

With no equipment required besides your own will power, PE Core promotes physical activity and mental well-being. This course counts towards the PE credit upon completion.
